then [Oct 22] we played a Bliz/Allegro - 10 minutes each with 5 sec increment (Bronstein-style)
So ; Joe doesn't handle fast chess eh ?? If that is true then I wouldn't want to play him when he gets better, Joe's only blemish was in the second last round, and that was probably more to do with fatigue (and good pay from John of course). Joe's 1st loss in our last 3 comps : 27 wins; 1 draw; 1 loss.
A stand-out was Noel's performance - starting off well by knocking off Peter, one of the top 'seeds' and Peter may struggle in Blitz - though that is what was once said against Joe.
The time limit was 10 minutes with a 5 second increment [Bronstein style].
Before it started we had the presentation for the Spectacular Spring [Joe 1st; Peter 2nd; performance Ric Smith] and for a while it looked like it would only be 6 - then 2 more and just as pairings were generated - 2 more !
Joe in the background moves into clear lead in round 3 against eventual second-place getter Keith, in the fore Les considers Rics moves
